DISCLAIMER: To all those who don't consider camping in a motor home with A/C, running water and flushing toilets camping, please read the title of this post as "Logan's first overnight with Grandma & Grandpa Rasmussen" :)
Luke's parents went to Palisade State Park over the weekend for a family reunion and invited us to come stay with them in their RV. This is the kind of camping I could get used to! We watched movies, and had a bathroom with running water and flushing toilets, and A/C when it got real hot. It was perfect! This was all of our first time staying in their RV and we are glad we went even for just a night. The campground was right on a lake, and was a beautiful setting (other than the cotton trees that blew all over and stirred up my allergies. Dang fresh air!) We arrived Saturday afternoon and went down to a pavilion where the family was having a BBQ and an auction. This was for Luke's mom's cousins so he didn't really know anyone either, but we still had fun. They auctioned things like a George Foreman rotisserie for turkey/chicken, some wall hangings, stuffed animals and toys for the kids and some other random things. All the money they raise goes into a party fund to use for their next gathering. After that we took a walk down by the lake and decided to see what Logan would think. The water was a bit cold, but I just stuck his feet in. Since it was windy there were lots of waves, and he was so fascinated by them! He didn't want to get out even when it started to rain!
We walked back to camp and had dinner and made smores on a propane fake fire (again, my kind of camping! no waiting for the fire, no having to get water to put it out, no smelling like camp fire for days...love it!) Me and Jolene and Aunt Sheri played games until Logan had had enough of Grandpa and dad entertaining him and just wanted mom. We retired to the RV then to get him to sleep.
The next morning we had a big breakfast and went for another walk to the lake this time with the camera. We splashed around and played with Logan until he got tired and cranky (he knows when its nap time!) We went over to where they had a playground and I swung on the swings with him until he went to sleep and then we continued our walk around the lake. Such a relaxing overnighter--just what we needed. As we packed up to leave it was starting to rain, and we were a little nervous since our windshield wipers are both broken and we had a two hour drive home. We ended up pulling over somewhere around Moroni for awhile waiting for the storm to calm so we could see the road. The rain was falling so hard it was coming in through the weatherstripping in our car and Luke and I were getting wet! I could hardly believe Logan slept through that storm! We eventually were able to get back on the road and made it home safely. Such a quick trip, but a fun adventure. Logan did really well for his first camping trip! He enjoyed having one-on-one time with Grandma and Grandpa and enjoyed crawling around the motor home as well. He is such a good baby!
