I have been telling Luke for a few weeks that when I get my first unemployment check I want to "splurge" and get a cute spring pedicure. I explained to him that it is one of the best ways to relax and feel pretty, but he had to experience it for himself. Yes, it's true--my husband has now experienced his first pedicure, and he loved it! I was excited he wanted to go with me as I have been teasing him about his "wolf claw" toenails. He was a little nervous that someone he knew would see him and think he was weird, and he did get some weird looks from random guys as they walked by, but I think most of the women who saw us thought it was cute of him to go with me. Here are some results of our spring pedicure adventure:

First Anniversary Part 1
We can hardly believe it has almost been a year since our wedding! While we were in Vegas this past weekend we did a little celebrating early. In the tradition of one year anniversary's, mom saved the top layer of our cake in her deep freezer, and it was actually still pretty fresh! We also were able to show Jay & Stacy some parts of Vegas they hadn't seen before--of course starting with the Bellagio Gardens! We also walked through Caesar's Palace and then on to M&M world before heading to the truck show. We did a lot of walking and were exhausted by the end of the day, but we had a great time!
Monster Jam World Finals 2010
The year I got home from my mission my sisters and brother in law were all jazzed to go to the monster truck show. I had no interest whatsoever even though everyone told me I would love it. Curry challenged me to a game of Phase 10, and if he won I had to go, and if I won I didn't. I took him on, and I still think he cheated, but he won and I had to go. everyone was right--I loved it! I am hardly the girl to be into that kinda thing, but it was so fun. I have introduced several people since, and this year was no different. Luke, and his brother and sister-in-law and I traveled to Vegas for the weekend for the show. It was all of their first times, and we had a blast! Stacy was like me and didn't think she would get into the show, but she did too. In the spirit of trying to fit in, Luke even bought a mullet wig to wear. I have never seen so many real mullets in my life, and he got a lot of compliments on his wig as well.

Shopping with Asher
A few weeks ago Asher called my parents and asked them to come play with her. Being lonely empty nesters now, they gladly came up for the weekend. On Saturday, the girls went shopping at Rod Works while the boys ran other errands. Asher immediately found a bucket she liked and started filling it up. When we were ready to pay, Asher told Melissa she had everything she wanted. She is all girl--I had to take a picture of Asher's "wants"....

And We are having...
So... this morning we went to our 18 week check up and so far everything is good. I have gained 5 pounds, and the heart beat is normal still. When the doctor came in we chatted and when he asked if we had any other questions I asked if we could see the baby--even though our official ultrasound is not for two more weeks--he took us in the room and... we are having a BOY!!! Logan Michael Rasmussen will be here in August!

Sister Freitag
I can hardly believe Leslie has been out almost a month already! I will be looking forward to Monday's now to get email and hear how things are going. Sounds like she is doing great! This is what I heard today:
Holy moly! It has appeared, that is so fun!! How exciting! (referring to my baby bump--I sent her a pic in the last email) Things have been crazy busy here, but they have also been great. We've had a lesson everyday since I've been here, how awesome is that? We have a baptism on April 13 and check this, I challenged someone for baptism last night. It was so exhillerating. It was amazing. We are working with a few people right now. My companions are great! Yes there is an s, I am still in a tri companinoship, but this one is so different way great! Sister Baker is from Colorado and this is her last transfer and Sister Wright is from Idaho and is half way done. It's so fun that we have people at all stanges of our missions, cool huh? Well another interesting thing...as of July 1, 2010 my mission is no more! Dah! Crazy...we are getting desolved into the Iowa and Missiouri?? (I think) Missions. So we don't know which one we're going to end up in yet, but will find out in two transfers. I'm hoping to go to the Iowa mission because that will be the one with Nauvoo and Normal in it. But how are things going? Are you exciting for your next baby appt coming up? How are you feeling? Have you found a job yet? You have been in my prayers everyday, so I hope things are ging well. I love you so much kel, thank you so much for writing and your support, I'll write you a real letter lady today when we get time to do that, but I love you and will talk to you soon! Hope things are great! Love, Leslie
I am so excited for her-- I didn't challenge someone for baptism until I had been out for 8 months!! She is so much more prepared than I ever was. I didn't even have my first baptism until I had been out for 10 months! Looking forward to hearing more about how things are going!

Rantings of a Renter
Today I came home to find a nasty note on our door from management saying we were late on our rent. I know this is a fallacy as I dropped the payment off myself the day it was due. I even checked our bank, and guess what? Magically--the check has even cleared the bank! I plan on having a lengthy conversation with management in the morning. I am over this complex and if I had my way we would be out of here--breaking our lease and not having to pay for it! The Management talks out of both sides of their mouth and can't get their stories straight, and don't even get me started on the "we-don't-speak-english" and are probably illegal immigrant maintenance workers! They try to make me feel like an imbecile when half the time they don't even know what I am talking about. I think this just goes to show you get what you pay for. I wish I could snap my fingers and get us in our own house where we don't have to deal with maintenance because we ARE maintenance, we don't have to deal with property management telling us one thing and doing another, and we don't have to deal with hearing neighbors alarm clocks going off through the walls for FOUR hours starting at FOUR AM! oh yes, none of this is an exaggeration. Isn't renting such a grand experience? I know one day I will look back on all this and laugh, but I wish that day would be sooner than later!
The stay-at-home Wife
Today is day 3 being out of the job. I have done well at keeping myself busy until today. Monday Luke took me to a dollar movie in the morning before he had to leave for work--something I have never done--a mid-day movie on a Monday when it is NOT a holiday. That day I had time to clean the apartment and do laundry that had stacked up and even get it all put away. Then made dinner and dessert and delivered it to Luke at work and found time to watch the season finale of the Bachelor (which I ended up being so mad at! but that's another story!!).
Tuesday was a lazy day. We went and got the insurance information we need to get everything switched over to Luke's plan and then walked through the mall (before any of the stores opened--truly window shopping takes away the temptation to spend money!) We stopped on the way home and picked up some donuts and then went home to watch our most recent Netflix choice before Luke had to work. That afternoon I even took a nap--something I have not done for awhile!
Today, however, is day three and I must admit I began to get bored. We were home all morning until Luke left for work since I had a killer headache. After he left, I had no idea what to do. Luckily, Melissa called and invited me down for dinner with her and the kids. Asher, as always, kept me plenty entertained! Today she told me that the baby was growing and would be coming soon. She decided if it is a boy we should name him girl, and if it is a girl we should call him boy. Then when I told her the names we decided she said " yeah..those are ok too!" Glad I have my three year old nieces' approval :) I also taught her how to blow zerbits tonight which she thought was hilarious--beware Grandma and Grandpa--she is all prepares to greet you this weekend!
SO the verdict is that being a stay-at-home mom will be great when I have a baby to keep me busy. Being a stay at home wife... is yet to be determined!

Feeling Flutters
Yesterday I hit 16 weeks! I am finally starting to show! We were sitting in church and I felt a little flutter repeatedly--just like everyone describes what you feel when the baby moves for the first time! After that I was too excited to pay attention in church and Luke kept trying to feel my tummy so he could feel it too. Exciting day!
